On January 6, 2009, S.Y. Bancorp, Inc. issued a press release, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference, announcing that it has declined to participate in the Treasury Department's Capital Purchase Program (CPP).  Last month, the Company reported that it had received preliminary approval for an investment of approximately $43 million in preferred equity stock.
