Recycle Week: How Our Comcast Employees Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: Comcast Corporation

DESCRIPTION:

Comcast believes in protecting the environment where our customers and employees live and work—it’s one of the company’s key commitments—so we have a sustainable planet now and in the future. From designing power-saving equipment, to holding electronic recycling drives for our employees, we’re continually looking for new ways to incorporate green business practices.

Meanwhile, here in our Western New England Region, our employees are passionate about making conscious lifestyle changes—large and small—to have a more positive impact on our environment.

Here are some easy tips from our employees about ways to reduce, reuse and recycle:

Justin – Senior Manager, Technical Operations

“To cut down on methane gas in our landfills, and to enrich my garden soil, I compost food scraps and use them in my vegetable garden. I also reuse yogurt, cottage cheese and sour cream containers for plant starters in the spring, and reuse large peanut butter containers to store screws, nuts and bolts in the garage.”

Sandy – Director, Workplace Safety

“I’ve cut down on waste by switching from buying individual sized, single-serve water bottles to using reusable mugs.”

Bob – Director, Business Operations

“I bring used paint to the local hardware store that is designated as a paint recycling center. I can bring up to four gallons and they recycle it, thereby avoiding the landfill. More information about this nationwide program can be found online, including a paint recycling center near you.”

Lindsaye – Supervisor, Customer Experience

“I reuse pasta sauce jars and mason jars to store things such as popcorn, spices, sugars, etc. I also use cloth towels for spills and cleaning instead of paper towels, then I wash and reuse them.”

Jessica – Senior Communications Specialist

“I’ve stopped buying bulky plastic laundry detergent bottles and use laundry strips instead. Also, to cut down on chemicals my family and the environment are exposed to, I use all-natural household products, such as vinegar and baking soda, for everyday cleaning.”

Timothy – Senior Manager, Customer Experience

“My wife and I switched to cloth reusable napkins over paper, which reduces our use of single-use paper products.”
