Xfinity Proudly Supports “The Backpack Comeback,” Providing Free School Supplies for Families in Need

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: Comcast Corporation

DESCRIPTION:

Tens of thousands of students throughout the Bay Area will have a free backpack filled with school supplies thanks to Family Giving Tree, Xfinity, NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48. This week, volunteers came together to prepare backpacks for students in need as a part of the Family Giving Tree’s 25th annual Back-to-School Drive called “The Backpack Comeback.”

“Many students don’t have the basic school supplies they need to succeed in school,” said Keith Turner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Comcast in California. “This year, that need is even greater as families struggle with the financial and other challenges brought on by the pandemic. That’s why Xfinity is proud to support the Backpack Comeback effort.”

Xfinity retail stores in 22 Bay Area locations will serve as drop-off sites for backpack donations until July 18. Xfinity is also donating 3,600 dental hygiene kits, which are also a huge need for Bay Area children, many of whom could not visit a dentist during the pandemic.

In addition to school supplies, another important key to success for students of all ages, as well as their families, is high speed Internet access. Comcast is proud to offer Internet Essentials, which provides eligible families with high speed Internet access at home. Since the pandemic began, Comcast has offered Internet Essentials free for the first 60 days, and after that it’s just $9.95 per month.  Learn more and see if you are eligible at www.internetessentials.com.
