The Center for the Multidisciplinary Study of Cybernetic Existentialism Announces Exhibition Honoring Ruffo Caselli’s Robotics-Inspired Artwork

The Center for the Multidisciplinary Study of Cybernetic Existentialism Announces Exhibition Honoring Ruffo Caselli’s Robotics-Inspired Artwork
Nizhny Tagil Art Museum Hosts Retrospective Featuring Caselli’s Pioneering Contributions to Contemporary Art Until March 3.

In Russia, the Nizhny Tagil Art Museum has inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to the pioneering art of the founder of Cybernetic Existentialism Ruffo Caselli (Florence 1932-Ovada 2020), known for his contributions to contemporary art and his poetic and prophetic interpretation of robotics. The exhibit will be open until March 3, 2025.

The elegant humanoid robots painted on canvasses on display captivated the Russian public. This significant event attracted a large crowd of journalists and art scholars eager to delve deeper into Caselli's unique vision and legacy. The brilliant opening conference was led by Elena Garas, esteemed scholar of contemporary art and long-time supporter of Caselli's profound impact. His works have been highly appreciated in Russia, having been previously exhibited in prestigious cultural centers such as the Historical Chelyabinsk Urals Museum and the Uray Museum in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District.

The inauguration was completed by remarks from the director of the Museum, Marina Vladivorovna Ageeva, and the museum curator, Olga Victorovna Lebedeva.

After numerous exhibitions in his hometown of Milan, Ruffo Caselli's works gained a favorable public reception in the United States in 1980, following exhibitions at the prestigious Carmen Gallo's gallery in Manhattan, which sponsored his unique style and promoted exhibitions not only in the United States, but also in South America, Dubai, and Korea.

Giusi Gallo, a personal friend of the painter and passionate about contemporary art, states:

"Ruffo Caselli's art, in my opinion, can be interpreted in an evolutionary way. According to modern theory, there are six Kingdoms in nature. I would define the "seventh Kingdom" as the one created by man: the robot. These six Kingdoms are all essential for the functioning of the "Earth ecosystem". The basis of all living beings is the cell, and the basis of robots are microchips. Robots are a major technological innovation that provides a complete technical apparatus capable of providing quick answers. The machine carries out orders and is now fundamental in many sectors, from medicine to production, research, art, and communication. We communicate with the "machine" and it processes the data, but it evolves very quickly, perhaps too quickly, and this could potentially pose a great risk. Ruffo Caselli understood this many years ago."
