UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESSWIRE / December 17, 2024 / Marquis Who's Who honors Gilbert M. Bareng for his architectural innovation. As the founder and chief executive officer of Bareng Corporation, Mr. Bareng has skillfully combined architectural design and real estate development to address the critical need for affordable housing and educational facilities. Based in Porterville, California, his privately held corporation emphasizes public-private partnerships to drive sustainable growth and cultivate community resilience.
Mr. Bareng's Progressive Career
Mr. Bareng began his career in 2002 as an architectural intern at Gensler in San Francisco. His career rapidly advanced at Mangini Associates Inc., where he quickly climbed the ranks to become a corporate officer and shareholder. For over 20 years, he played a key role in establishing relationships with over 45 school districts overseeing the design and construction of public school facilities valued at over $2 billion in California's San Joaquin Central Valley.
In 2010, Mr. Bareng co-founded a high school architectural internship program with his colleague, Mr. Clayton Taylor, in collaboration with the Porterville Unified School District. This initiative empowered students to work on real-world design projects, such as a universally accessible playground and a new public library of the future for the City of Porterville. These partnerships also paved the way for a groundbreaking $15 million grant from the California Career Pathways Trust in 2014 that enhanced Linked Learning opportunities.
This program has provided life-changing experiences for over 500 students by helping them transition into college and professional careers. In recognition of these efforts, Mr. Bareng was recognized at a national conference and received the National Advisory Board Champion Award from NAF. His innovative work was also recognized by the American School and University Magazine, earning him the Architectural Portfolio and Educational Showcase Award.
A Talented Real Estate Entrepreneur
In 2024, Mr. Bareng launched Bareng Corporation to expand his impact on underserved communities through groundbreaking real estate development projects. As his career evolved, Mr. Bareng turned his focus toward a broader vision: addressing the intertwined challenges of housing, education, and community development.
In collaboration with David Smith of the Affordable Housing Institute, California public school districts, and local governments representing disadvantaged communities, Mr. Bareng is establishing a strategic growth framework. This work aims to replicate these solutions and share them with the nation and other countries in need of quality affordable housing and education.
A standout initiative involves the creation of investment opportunities for tenants. Bareng Corporation enables families, educators and commercial tenants to gain financial stability by channeling lease payments into equity-building programs.
Building a Legacy of Integrity
Mr. Bareng credits his success to the values instilled by his parents, Nicolas and Violet Bareng, who emphasize honesty, integrity and hard work. His wife, Lerma, remains his steadfast supporter and encourages him to tackle ambitious goals while staying grounded with humility. His children, Olivia and Owen, also inspire him to leave a lasting legacy.
Mr. Bareng advocates lifelong learning. Since his transition into real estate development in January 2024, he has been working towards his real estate graduate certificate from Harvard Extension School and has obtained multiple executive education certifications in real estate development, finance, investments, and affordable housing from Harvard Graduate School of Design. He has been accepted into Harvard's premier advanced real estate leadership program, Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate (2026 AMDP), working towards his Harvard GSD alumni status.
Mr. Bareng emphasizes the importance of discovering one's life purpose and its role in benefiting society. "It's vital to reach our highest potential and use it to build meaningful connections, address real-world challenges, and create a lasting impact on society," he says.
Transforming Communities One Project at a Time
With his personal values and professional expertise aligned, Mr. Bareng is now channeling his efforts into projects that redefine what it means to build sustainable and thriving communities. Armed with a vision for global change, Mr. Bareng views each project as a stepping stone toward creating systems that empower individuals, inspire leadership, and build generational family wealth. Every project is an opportunity to create lasting positive change. From landowner and tenant investment programs to neighborhoods that integrate educational and community development initiatives, Mr. Bareng's work demonstrates the impactful power of architecture and real estate innovations. Through these initiatives, Mr. Bareng invites stakeholders, investors, and community leaders to join him in creating a legacy of sustainable and equitable development.
