UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESSWIRE / December 17, 2024 / Marquis Who's Who recognizes Kara L. Brown for her contributions to interior design. Ms. Brown has made notable contributions in her field, emphasizing the importance of constantly learning and growing.
The design of the spaces people occupy greatly impacts how they work and live. Though these places are often taken for granted, Ms. Brown has developed a keen eye for seeing their transformative potential. Her passion for the arts drove her to pursue the field of interior design and, through this pursuit, her work has opened others to the potential of spaces optimized for function and wellness.
Education and Career Development
Ms. Brown was first attracted to interior design through her love of art. She has long considered it an excellent outlet for self-expression. Pursuing this passion, she attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, a private university in Rochester, New York, where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior design in 2014. Ms. Brown excelled in her studies, placing in the Undergraduate Honors Exhibition at Bevier Gallery in 2012 and receiving an Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar Award.
Ms. Brown had already initiated a multifaceted career in the arts during her undergraduate years. In 2012, she began working as the winter guard show designer and as a color guard instructor for Gates Chili Color Guard Inc. She is also the color guard caption head for White Sabers Drum Corps Inc. Every weekend, she works with a team of caption heads, designers and staff to instruct the drum corps ranging from 75 to 100 members per season.
Ms. Brown's work in interior design began shortly after she completed her undergraduate degree. In 2015, she obtained a position as an interior designer for Hanlon Architects, where she worked for four years. Since 2019, she has held the position of interior designer with Colliers Engineering and Design, previously known as Bergmann Associates.
Major Projects in Interior Design
Since entering the field of interior design, Ms. Brown has worked on various successful design projects. One project she is particularly proud of is designing an ample office space for a trucking company in Ohio, in which she was involved from start to completion. This project required her to utilize her eye for spatial design, converting a warehouse into an office building. As this was one of her first experiences with fieldwork, having the opportunity to be directly involved in the project leaves a lasting impact.
One of Ms. Brown's recent projects was a design for a town court in a suburb of Rochester. For this government project, the team at Bergmann designed a new, large building with a stately courthouse in the center. Ms. Brown has applied her skills to crafting the building's interiors.
A Commitment to Personal Growth
For her thriving career as an artist and designer, Ms. Brown attributes much of her success to the mentorships she received. Her first firm presented the opportunity to work with a skilled and experienced individual in the field. Ms. Brown has also acquired an expansive network of fellow designers in her region, allowing her to expand her knowledge.
Ms. Brown advises other aspiring designers to always search for new opportunities to learn and grow. "You shouldn't stop learning," she asserts. Throughout her career, she has constantly searched for new methods for improvement and means of helping her organization reach its goals.
The Future of Interior Design
For the future of interior design, Ms. Brown observes a more significant movement towards sustainability. "Many material companies are producing their products with fewer chemicals," she states. "Many companies are also moving away from vinyl." From architectural firms to the client side, people are now searching for sustainable solutions to meet their design and construction needs.
Over the next five years, Ms. Brown intends to continue designing and aims to pay forward the mentoring she has received throughout her career by mentoring developing professionals. Additionally, she plans to pair her work with the sustainability movement and learn new methods for creating sustainable, low-impact designs. As she continues her pursuit of excellence in art and design, she is set to make many more impactful contributions to her field.
