A data leak says that the new Apple iPhone 14 will have a better autofocusing front camera.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, revealed in a Twit that all four models of the iPhone 14 set to come out later this year would likely have an upgraded front camera. While the front-facing camera of the iPhone 13 has a fixed focus at /2.2, the camera of the upcoming iPhone 14 would include autofocus and a larger lens with /1.9 aperture size (meaning more light can get through!). Hence, according to Mr. Kuo, the iPhone 14 would have better depth-of-field effects for Portrait mode photos and videos and enhanced focus during video conversations such as FaceTime or Zoom.

Ming-Chi Kuo, whose past predictions have always been confirmed by Apple product releases, added that the rear camera would also be upgraded on the new models. According to him, the iPhone 14 Pro would support a wider lens compared to the previous models, giving the option to record videos in 4K and even in 8K. The information, however, hasn’t been yet verified.

As Apple confirmed that new products would be revealed in 2022, experts suggest that iPhones 14, 14 Max, and 14 Pro could be launched in September, Apple’s usual launch date. The company has already booked a software-focused event for June, following the success of their “Peak Performance” event in March.

Apple reported Q2 2022 yesterday, beating the EPS by 6.18% and revenues by 3.50%. Regardless of the great results, investors are concerned regarding multiple hurdles faced by the company, including supply issues connected to Covid-19. The IT giant also cautioned about how Covid-related lockdowns were stifling demand in China due to the way it is limiting iPhone and iPad production at two factories in China. As a result, Apple is losing almost 3% pre-market today.
