Amazon Stock Split: Investors to Get 19 Additional Stock For Every One Stock

Your Demat account will be credited with extra Amazon stock soon if you possess any. As a result of the announcement of Amazon’s stock split, ordinary investors are anticipated to increase their involvement in its shares.

A 20-for-1 split of Amazon’s common stock and a corresponding increase in the number of authorized shares of common stock were approved by Amazon’s shareholders on May 25, 2022. Form 8-K was filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on May 25, 2022.

Amazon stockholders will get an additional 19 shares for everyone they now own on May 27, 2022, when its fiscal year ends. On or before June 3, 2022, the additional shares will be shown in the shareholder’s accounts. On or around June 6, 2022, the stock market is projected to begin trading on a split-adjusted basis.

AMZN is the ticker sign for Amazon on the Nasdaq stock market. Amazon went public on May 15th, 1997, with an initial public offering (IPO) price of $18 per share. The history of Amazon stock splits illustrates that the company has had several such splits in the past.

Shareholders of record as of August 12, 1999, will be entitled to a two-for-one stock split beginning September 1, 1999. For shareholders with records as of December 18, 1998, Amazon announced a 3-for-1 stock split on November 19, 1998. The new split took effect on January 5, 1999.

For shareholders of record, on May 20, 1998, Amazon announced a two-for-one split of common shares effective June 2, 1998. The calendar year is used as the basis for Amazon’s fiscal year. 

December 31 is the end of the fiscal year. Aside from that, the corporation has never declared or paid out any cash dividends on its common shares in the past. Computershare, Amazon’s transfer agent, is available to shareholders who need help with their share-related tasks.
