ZenBusiness Announces the Appointment of Katie Royce as Chief Financial Officer

Former Cognizant North America CFO tapped to oversee all fiscal aspects of the growing company

ZenBusiness, the only one-stop guided platform to help entrepreneurs launch, run, and grow a successful business, today announced the appointment of financial industry veteran Katie Royce, CFA, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Royce joins ZenBusiness following the company’s successful $200 million Series C fundraiser and during a time of rapid expansion as more and more people start businesses and seek to become their own boss.

Royce will oversee all aspects of the startup’s finances, bringing a significant level of expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and more to the ZenBusiness leadership team. She will report directly to CEO and Co-Founder Ross Buhrdorf and oversee a growing team of professionals focused on the long-term financial success of the company. Her appointment brings the number of women in the ZenBusiness leadership ranks to more than 40 percent.

“In our short time as a company we have experienced tremendous growth and success; propelled by the passion and resolve of the entrepreneurial renaissance unfolding across the country. In order to make sure that ZenBusiness is well-positioned for the next step, we are thrilled to welcome such a talented professional like Katie to the Executive Team,” said ZenBusiness CEO Ross Buhrdorf. “She has already hit the ground running and we are all looking forward to following her financial roadmap as we head towards the next chapter for our company.”

“I’m excited to join such a dynamic team of professionals who are thoroughly committed to supporting and growing entrepreneurship from the ground up,” said ZenBusiness CFO Katie Royce. “As CFO I plan on building on our already strong financial foundation to ensure we are in the best possible position to execute our strategy through growth, innovation and delivering on our mission to change the face of business ownership across the country.”

Royce expects to continue building out ZenBusiness’s in-house expertise as well as provide guidance on how the company can expand its role as a Public Benefit Corporation, including adopting robust ESG reporting and standards.

Royce has considerable public company c-suite experience and brings a unique skill set and knowledge base to the company. She spent nearly a decade at Cognizant, a multinational IT services and consulting firm, where she rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as the company’s North America CFO. Prior to Cognizant she held senior analyst and investor relations roles at several companies.

She also serves as a Board Member, and is the incoming Chair of the Board at the National Investor Relations Institute. She resides in Brooklyn, NY.

Royce is a graduate of the University of Richmond and is a CFA Charterholder.
