Avantax National Conference Focuses Financial Professionals on Evolving from Fiduciary to Stewardship Relationships with Clients

More than 1,300 attendees hear from Avantax and Cetera leaders, attend dozens of tax-intelligent presentations and breakout sessions and enjoy countless peer-to-peer conversations

Avantax® Inc. (Avantax), a unique community within Cetera Holdings and a leader in tax-focused financial planning and wealth management, conducted its largest-ever National Conference in San Diego attended by more than 1,300 Financial Professionals, Wealth Management Assistants, Home Office staff, and Partners.

Kicking off the conference – themed “Charting the Course” – Avantax Wealth Management President Andy Watts, CFP®, reminded attendees that the core of the Avantax Community’s power is how its Financial Professionals collaborate with their peers instead of competing.

Looking ahead to 2025, Watts suggested that in addition to the fiduciary standard financial advisors must uphold, Avantax Financial Professionals can deepen client relationships by embracing a stewardship role.

“I believe there’s a higher calling for those affiliated with the Avantax Community, specifically that our extraordinary community of Financial Professionals can become stewards of their clients’ financial lives,” Watts said. “Stewardship at Avantax means our Financial Professionals care for clients’ assets like they would their own if they were in the client’s exact situation. I believe that adding stewardship to our fiduciary standards will help our Financial Professionals’ practices ascend to new levels of growth while providing a client relationship and experience unique to Avantax.”

Watts also detailed significant new technologies on the horizon for the Avantax Community as well as several growth levers Financial Professionals can pull, ranging from Avantax’s “Rise to Elite” program to proprietary Avantax technologies such as Tax Intelligent Analyzer™, Tax Loss Harvester™ and 1040 Analyst®.

National Conference attendees also heard from Cetera leaders who outlined several flagship Cetera growth solutions than can benefit the Avantax Community, including AdviceWorks®, an all-in-one, interactive workspace that helps simplify Financial Professionals’ operations while driving growth and facilitating deeper client collaboration; Growth360, a proven methodology for quickly assessing a Financial Professional’s business and identifying the best growth opportunities; GrowthLine, a powerful combination of data-driven technology and full-service marketing strategy, planning and execution to clearly articulate a Financial Professional’s business and value; and MarketingCentral, Cetera’s all-in-one digital marketing platform.

Cetera leaders featured at the Avantax National Conference included Cetera Holdings CEO Mike Durbin, Cetera Holdings and Cetera Financial Group Chief Operating Officer Tom Gooley and Cetera Financial Group Chief Marketing Officer Michael Zuna. Cetera Holdings acquired Avantax one year ago.

As part of its National Conference, Avantax pledged to support Folds of Honor whose founder, Lt. Col. Dan Rooney (U.S. Air Force), was the conference’s closing speaker. The Folds of Honor mission is to help military and first responder families with life-changing scholarships.
