Names of some of the more than 1,000 homeless individuals who died in Los Angeles in 2024 will be read
AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) Housing Is A Human Right advocacy organization is spearheading a Candlelight Vigil in Hollywood commemorating National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Participants will read the list of people who died in Los Angeles before they could exit homelessness.

When: Saturday, December 21, 2024; 5:00 pm to appx. 6:00 pm
Where: Hollywood – Southwest Corner of Sunset and Hudson (4 blocks East of Highland) In front of 6500 Sunset Blvd., 90028
Who: Housing is a Human Right /AHF; members and staff from homeless service organizations and members of the community.
Why: Shedding a light on the hundreds of people who died homeless in Los Angeles in 2024. On average, 5 unhoused people die every day in Los Angeles, many of them alone and without acknowledgement.
National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day is observed each year on the longest night of the year, usually, December 21st—the Winter Solstice. The first Annual Homeless Persons’ Day was commemorated in 1990.
