The Zoo is home to roughly 3,000 animals, representing over 280 different species, spanning 500 acres surrounded by Rouge National Urban Park. The Zoo has five indoor pavilions (African Rainforest, Americas, Australasia, Malayan Woods and IndoMalaya) and several other indoor venues, such as the newly renovated Greenhouse and Wildlife Health Centre, which includes an animal hospital and reproductive lab, and the administration and service buildings.
The Toronto Zoo selected Everbridge due to its easily deployed, market-leading Mass Notification system that quickly broadcasts critical information and alerts across multi-channel communications including SMS, email, desktop alerts, and voice. Everbridge enables organizations to easily select their audience – individuals or groups – while facilitating two-way communication to ensure the safety of recipients.
“Guest and employee safety remains paramount at the Toronto Zoo, and Everbridge offers the sophisticated solutions we need to help us protect our staff, visitors, and zoo community, while rapidly communicating vital information during an emergency,” said Dolf DeJong, CEO, Toronto Zoo. “We strive to create an easily accessible, fun, safe, and comfortable experience that encourages learning and creates iconic and lifelong memories.”
“We applaud organizations like the Toronto Zoo for proactively protecting their guests, staff, and wildlife against potential risk,” said Tracy Reinhold, Chief Security Officer at Everbridge. “It is an honor to support a community-minded and safety-minded organization like the Toronto Zoo.”
