“I Love Beijing” Collection Call for Submissions Invites Global Youth to Portray the Splendor of Beijing

Beijing, China, 14th Jul 2023 – Beijing, a city with a long history and rich cultural heritage, is now presenting itself before us with ever-changing new faces. But how do history and modernity intertwine in this city for young people? The “I Love Beijing” Collection Call for Submissions is officially launched, inviting youth from around the world to depict their vision of Beijing through their artwork and writings, sharing and exchanging their feelings towards this city. We believe that through the perspective of young people, we will be able to see an extraordinary Beijing, a city full of beauty, vitality, hope, and creativity!

The publishing entities for this collection are Beijing Publishing Group and Beijing Publishing House, two renowned publishing institutions that will jointly provide a stage for young people to showcase their talents.

Firstly, let’s understand the basic information about the submission. This call for submissions is open to youth aged 6 to 18 worldwide. The submission period starts from today and lasts until July 30, 2023.

The requirements for the submissions are as follows:

1. Basic Requirements: The submitted works must be original and unpublished.

2. Categories: The submissions can be paintings or written works.

– For paintings, the subject matter and techniques are unlimited, but the paper size should be 8K.
– Written works should primarily be narrative or prose, with titles chosen by the authors themselves. The word count should range from 300 to 1000 words.

All works should adequately demonstrate Beijing’s profound historical and cultural heritage as well as its contemporary features. Written works should be eloquent, substantial, and heartfelt. At the end of the article, please provide a personal introduction, including your real name, date of birth, school attended, and mailing address.

For painting submissions, please send the original manuscripts to Beijing Publishing Group Theme Branch, No. 6 North Third Ring Middle Road, Xicheng District, Beijing, with attention to Teacher Gao. For written works, please send them as Word documents to ilovebeijing@bphg.com.cn, with the email subject indicating “Submission for ‘I Love Beijing’ Collection – Article.”

1. The organizers will convene experts to conduct the selection process. Once a work is chosen, it will be included in the “I Love Beijing” Collection and formally published. Each selected author will receive a copy of the “I Love Beijing” book and a certificate of selection.

2. There is no submission fee during the selection process, and all works will not be returned. Additionally, there will be no additional remuneration. The organizers will have the publishing rights for the selected works and the right to publicly promote and display these works on online platforms under Beijing Publishing Group, such as “October Youth Literature,” “Must-Read for Parents,” as well as various offline activities such as book launches and art exhibitions.
