In addition to offering a variety of emotional and behavioral counseling services, she has transitioned into a teaching and training role where she shares her years of experience and knowledge with the next generation of mental health professionals.
Influenced by a poignant moment witnessing the humiliation of a young peer that took place between a student peer and teacher in early middle school, Dr. McNulty sought to comprehend why humans hurt one another, which ultimately led to her pursuing a career in psychology. With over 40 years of experience as a psychotherapist, and psychologist, she is now the director of Dr. Kathleen McNulty & Associates, a private group practice that serves a variety of clients. Dr. McNulty is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York and New Jersey, a licensed Clinical Social Worker and a licensed Marriage and Family therapist.
Dr. Kathleen McNulty has devoted her professional life to serving others as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Therapist, Success Coach, and EAP (Employee Assistance Provider) in private practice with a unique case-by-case approach. Dr. McNulty once worked with a middle-aged man who had been entrapped after dealing with illegal activities. He had been terribly abused as a child and he was sure it was his fault. Sometimes in medicine and in the therapeutic arena, there is divine intervention. Such was the case for this middle aged man. Dr. McNulty recalls divine synchronicities as this person began to heal with what she can only describe as synchronistic events along with therapeutic interventions which assisted in moving this man towards healing.
Dr. McNulty works with trauma which affects all humans in different ways, regardless of demographics. Patients are treated utilizing trauma focused methodology with a multidisciplinary and personalized approach. As a well-known authority in her field, Dr. McNulty combines a psychoanalytic approach with evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy and a variety of research based therapies combined with a neuroscience foundation. Our human organism is quite complex and interconnected with our mind, body and spirit.
Dr. McNulty continued to offer services both in person and virtually to patients during the pandemic. There is a range of therapeutic services provided including: individual, family, marital, and couple modalities to service the diversity of needs at Dr. Kathleen McNulty & Associates private group practice.
