This could result in up to $145,000 in savings, or a cost of just $0.07 per watt - a substantial cost benefit in an industry where projects can often run over, creating unforeseen expenses.
When asked how it was possible for their Osprey PowerRACK® to be installed so much more quickly than conventional ground-mounted racking systems, a spokesperson for Nuance Energy said: “Traditional ground-mount systems often require multiple trips to the site and significant delays for things like concrete curing. With our system, that’s eliminated. We can install everything in one mobilization, which cuts down project time significantly.”
Indeed, reduced site preparation is one of the ways that the Osprey PowerRACK® saves contractors time. There is no need for lengthy excavations or conventional foundation methods as Nuance Energy’s system uses earth anchor technology to secure the racking to the ground. Aside from being low-impact and suitable for more difficult terrains, the earth anchor’s main benefit is that it can be real-time load tested. This negates the need for inspections or geotechnical surveys, further cutting wait times and the costs usually involved in solar installation projects.
The other area where Nuance Energy’s Osprey PowerRACK® saves solar contractors time is in the labor required to install the pre-fabricated system. A three-person crew with only 30 minutes of training is able to assemble one of the 10kW structures in an hour.
Nuance Energy says that this can allow installers to increase their assembly speed by up to 60kW per day.
