Conference attendees equipped with strategies for building a sustainable creative career
WASHINGTON - Aug. 11, 2022 - PRLog -- The DC Music Summit (DCMS), an award-winning 501(c)(3) non-profit, is now accepting applications for presenters and performers in support of its fifth annual music conference scheduled for October 14–16, 2022. The conference will be held in person at the esteemed Duke Ellington School of the Arts, a historic site that nurtures talented youth in the spirit of its legendary namesake. Register here through Aug. 15 for the early-bird rate.
Industry professionals interested in securing a spot as a presenter or panelist are invited to submit a proposal here by Aug. 31. Session tracks include: community development, youth development, business management, marketing, wellness, professional development, and thriving through COVID-19. All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee.
Aspiring artists are invited to apply to perform at the 2022 Summit here by Aug. 31. Summit performers and presenters obtain access to a diverse community of fellow industry professionals and artists from the D.C. area and beyond, positioning them to gain new supporters.
"Since the music industry began, so many people, who do what I do for a living, created barriers and problems for which the DC Music Summit works tirelessly to overcome; I joined DCMS to be a part of the solution," said Howard Rabach, a DCMS volunteer and owner of Machine Room Studio, a Virginia-based full-service production workspace that has elevated the careers of D.C.-based artists since 2010.
DCMS has a proud history of accelerating the careers of independent musicians, with a focus on women, communities of color, and other underrepresented groups. Since 2016, DCMS has served hundreds of individuals each year at its Summit, bringing together musicians, industry professionals, and influencers to advance the D.C. creative scene. Seasoned, independent, emerging, and new artists are welcomed with open arms into the DCMS community.
"I became a volunteer for the DC Music Summit because I want artists and musicians to understand that success comes to those who are prepared to take advantage of every opportunity," said Steve Strang, a DCMS volunteer and owner of Verzatyle Entertainment, a Maryland-based entertainment consulting agency.
