Rural Women-Owned Creyo Opens its First Store in Hyderabad

By: Get News

Creyo, a brand owned by rural and tribal women producers, has opened its first experience centre in Hyderabad. Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce & Information Technology, Govt. of Telangana and Shri Sivasubramanian Ramann, Chairman & Managing Director at the Small Industries Development Bank of India, appeared as guests of honour at the inauguration ceremony on the 29th of August. The store is located at Crafts Council of Telangana’s CCT Spaces in the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad.

While their website made shopping on the go accessible worldwide, Creyo’s first experience centre in Hyderabad will allow customers to move through colourful splashes of drapes ready for them to try. The store will mark our first leap towards creating India’s next AMUL owned and managed by women producers.

The store will showcase an extensive range of handloom product collections produced by artisans and weavers associated with Chitrika Artisans Producer Company, incubated by Access Livelihoods. It has been working with artisans to co-create sustainable and successful business enterprises owned and operated by the artisans themselves since 2005. It has demonstrated the inherent capacity of artisans to become a key players in the craft economy when supported with the right skills and access to resources. Access Livelihoods and Chitrika aim to transform craftspeople into community-builders and collective-entrepreneurs who understand and interact with the market.

Creyo represents the products produced by small women producers (usually earning less than Rs 1 lakh per annum) and enterprises owned by them. In India, food and clothing supply chains have largely depended on informal channels and multiple intermediaries. This meant the women producers realized only 15 to 40% of the consumer rupee. However, technology is a great enabler. If sensitively employed, it connects consumers directly to producers, ensuring that 70% of the consumer rupee goes to the producer collectives under a new supply chain configuration called Producer to Consumer (P2C). Creyo aspires to offer customers authentic and affordable products of the highest quality through a transparent and traceable P2C value chain.

Access Livelihoods was established in 2005 in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a collective of social enterprises that, by choice, works with women and youth from marginalized communities to reimagine and transform their livelihoods. Access Livelihoods comprises six entities that extend comprehensive services to enable enterprise incubation and employment opportunities. As a group, it offers end-to-end support, including pre-incubation, incubation, and acceleration support programs. These professional services are delivered by a team of 80+ passionate individuals who have graduated from some of India’s best institutions and have consciously chosen the road less travelled.

Under its two core missions, Operation Beehive and Web, Access Livelihoods is reimagining food and clothing value chains to be environmentally sustainable and socio-economically inclusive. It currently works with 18,310 women farmers, tribals, artisans/weavers and pastoral communities spread across five states. Enterprises incubated under these missions offer comprehensive lifestyle solutions to conscious consumers through Creyo – a brand with a core idea of a “World that works for everyone.”
