Board Outline announced their first product for crowdfunding.

Varna, Bulgaria Oct 21, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Board Outline has announced its first product. It's called the USB Power Injector and it aims to make the development of USB-powered devices simpler and quicker. Currently, there is a pre-launch page on the crowdfunding website CrowdSupply - https://www.crowdsupply.com/board-outline/usb-power-injector.

USB Power Injector is an open-source tool used to power USB 2.0 devices from a lab power supply, while still allowing data transfer from the host to the device.

When developing a USB device it's often difficult to know exactly how it's being powered by any standard USB port - what the applied voltage or current limits are, for example. USB Power Injector allows a USB device to be connected to a normal lab PSU (Power Supply), while also allowing for USB data communication to a host. This allows for easy testing of the device at different supply voltages, setting current limits (for safety reasons), easier current draw measurements, and consistency during development.

The USB Power Injector allows for easier testing of a device over its full supplied range, testing a device's input protections, setting current limits while developing a device, and much much more.

Board Outline's founder got inspired to make the USB Power Injector while working on a wireless system. His main goal was testing the device from 4.5 to 5.5V and that proved difficult with conventional means. While using the USB Power Injector, he found the unexpected benefit that he was always measuring the DUT's supply current. This proved useful in identifying the state of the wireless transmitter.

Since then the USB Power Injector has proved useful in debugging multiple devices during product development and finding problems in production.
