This led to the founding of the non-profit organization Belmond's Wish. The group held its first charity event in October at Camp Maplewood in Eaton, MA. The camp owners waived the fees for using the property. The event was a grand success, with more than 4,000 pounds of food being donated. Hundreds of people participated and enjoyed activities such as face painting, boating, sports, jewelry making, etc.
Belmond is set to receive further recognition for his work at a ceremony in Boston under the aegis of the Association of Funding Professionals.
