KISED (Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development) hosted a “Post-TIPS Global IR" event at CES 2023, held in Las Vegas from January 5th to 8th, to attract global investors and seize new opportunities to enter the global market

TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) program selects start-ups to provide government-linked financial support (up to 700 Million KRW) to support their commercialization, and Post-TIPS selects start-ups with high growth potential among the successful graduates from the TIPS program to provide financial support up to 500 Million KRW for follow-up commercialization and expansion.

Several domestic and foreign venture funds and investors, including M Accelerator and Big Bang Angels, attended the IR event to express interest in K-startups and highly evaluated Korea's innovative technologies.

KISED selected 10 companies among Post-TIPS participants from 2020 to 2022 through a comprehensive global competency evaluation based on their global potential, readiness to enter the global market, and marketability, and has supported the founders to improve their global IR capabilities through expert mentoring.

The 10 selected companies are as follows: Biot (A micro medical robot that accurately delivers stem cell therapy to damaged cartilage(Magnectio), Real-time, Automated platform for infectious diseases(Rapids)); Meissa (Smart construction integrated solution based on drone control app, drone image analysis engine, and construction drone data); WiPowerOne (Wireless power charging system provider for electric vehicles); Exopert (Development of an early cancer diagnosis product by analyzing exosomes in the blood with artificial intelligence); Medihub (Developer and manufacturer of the innovative pain-free digital automatic syringe i-JECT for dental anesthesia and other medical injections); Seadronix (Ship navigation assistance, around view, and port management monitoring system based on AI recognition and sensor fusion technology specialized in marine environment); Fitogether (GPS-based wearable solution for sports teams); HabitFactory (Loaning AI : a real-time comparison platform for U.S. mortgage rates); Muzlive (Kit Album : New Physical Music Format served as both physical package and contents service on smart device, based on encrypted ultrasonic communication); YOLO (Croket : Cross-border e-Commerce platform connecting over 20,000 global sellers from 89 countries).

Among them, Fitogether (CEO Jin-Sung Yoon), which developed an ICT-based sports data analysis solution, proved the excellence of K-startups by attracting a lot of interest and landed with a partnership proposal from a local company and a follow-up meeting request from venture capitalists.

Kim Yong-moon, head of the KISED, said, "Global expansion is essential for start-ups who experience the limits from the size of the domestic market and decreased investment opportunities despite their excellent technology" and added, "We will continue to actively support excellent K-startups for their global scale-up.”

Meanwhile, the KISED plans to select 72 start-ups for Post-TIPS this year.
