Volo Natural Learning Community, a nature-based alternative to traditional schooling, is proud to announce its personalized learning program for young people between 6 and 18 years old. The community offers a 4-season learning environment where students can design their own curriculum based on their interests and abilities.
At Volo, personalized learning is key to helping students develop fulfilling lives. The community supports creativity, hands-on learning, and relationships that meet modern challenges with advanced learning strategies based on research and experience. Each student has the ability to design their own learning plan based on their abilities and interests, with a mentor to guide them along the way.
Volo emphasizes the importance of outdoor, nature-based learning, and values an outdoor lifestyle and experiences with nature. The community also values agency, or the ability to choose, and respects the choices of people of all ages in the community. Relationships and community involvement are also a priority at Volo, as the community believes in the wisdom of history in which people worked together and learned from each other.
The learning experiences at Volo include outdoor experiences, collaboration on individualized learning plans, hands-on, experiential learning, resources for learning, a mentor for each young person, community involvement, youth leadership, projects, service learning, digital creativity, rigorous foundations, and real play. The community provides opportunities for youth leadership and leading in the community through youth-led projects and service learning.
Volo Natural Learning Community is dedicated to helping young people gain fundamental knowledge, lifeworthy skills, and attitudes for tackling the future.
