Pastor Sue Saves Christmas" Announces Screening at the International Christian Film and Music Festival

"Pastor Sue Saves Christmas" is a significant Christian film that portrays the journey of a new Pastor struggling with the Church leadership and her faith.

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 23, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christian film producer Chris Johnson (Chris Johnson Studios) just announced that his most recent Christian film "Pastor Sue Saves Christmas" was nominated for "Most Inspirational Film" and co-producer, co-writer and actress Joy Villa (Joy Villa Productions Inc.) as "Best Supporting Actress" at the International Christian Film and Music Festival (ICFF). It will screen in the 24 Flix App as well as one of the theaters during the festival on May 1st - 4th. For ticket information please visit: www.internationalcff.com/. Chris stated that "I'm really honored to be nominated in this very special category and looking forward to attending the festival."

Joy stated, "This is an absolute honor to be nominated and be a part of this God honoring festival and faith enriching film. It was important we put actual Scripture into the script, as the Word of God is powerful! We need more Jesus in the cinema."

"Pastor Sue Saves Christmas" is a significant Christian film that portrays the journey of a new Pastor struggling with the Church leadership and her faith. Despite her objections, her congregation sets up an outdoor Nativity scene in a city where public displays of faith are prohibited due to protesters and non-believers. Pastor Sue (Rebecca Grant) attempts to dissuade her congregation from the idea in her gentle manner, but they are determined to proceed. Now Sue must balance a new relationship, her Bishop, the Congregation, and the city's formidable attorney, Lucy Fir (Joy Villa), who is determined to shut down and ban all faith displays.

As Christmas miracles unfold, Lucy Fir and the city move forward with plans for the destruction of the Nativity. When protesters arrive, Sue seeks help from the Chief of Police, only to be arrested for disturbing the peace. With the help of children, Sue's Congregation rallies behind her as Sue appeals to the City Council to revoke the ordinance against Faith. Success! However, Lucy's vendetta persists. On Christmas Eve, it is only Sue's heartfelt pleas for Faith that stand between her and Lucy's protesters. Although Lucy remains unmoved, the protesters are touched and decide to join Sue and her Congregation, ultimately bringing a heartwarming conclusion to the story as Pastor Sue Saves Christmas, at least for Pleasantville.

Actress, Screenwriter and Producer Joy Villa, was raised in the Christian Church by her Minister Father and her Gospel singer Mother. She famously broke ground as a cultural icon on the Grammy's red carpet in 2017, and has since gone onto showcase her strong beliefs as both an actress, singer and filmmaker, garnering her a #1 Billboard hit album and touring 39 countries. This is her third collaboration with Chris Johnson, she co-wrote and co-produced "Pastor Sue Saves Christmas" as well as starred and exec produced "The Contrast" (2022), and co-produces and hosts the upcoming travel documentary, "Why, Andorra?".

Director Alejandro (Alex) Hevia, who was brought up in the Catholic faith, has delved into the realm of cinema for over twenty years. Starting his career off-camera, Alex swiftly developed a love for storytelling, leading him to take on the roles of both producer and director. His distinctive viewpoint, rooted in his faith and principles, has enabled him to craft films that not only entertain but also stimulate reflection and instigate change.

Producer Chris Johnson has written, directed, and produced a number of feature film projects. "Bad Detectives," starring Stephen A. Chang (Bosch: Legacy), was released in June 2021 and is available on Amazon, Freevee, Tubi, and other platforms. "The Contrast" (Starring Joy Villa and Anton Jeftha) was released in January 2022. Currently, in post-production, is the documentary "Why Andorra?"
